This is a treasure of the Tewkesbury High Street and as their website declares, it is a traditional butchers with meats of all sorts on display or being cut and jointed in the work area at the back of the shop.
Our humble purchases in this shop were two pies for £3.20 each. Normally pies look good in the window, good when they go in the oven and then when being cut open reveal a void between the top of the filling and the pastry topping. Not in this case as both pies were crammed tight with chunks of steak and sauce, traditional ale sauce in this case, that was fighting to break through the upper crust of the pie.
Based on the pies alone this shop, one of three butchers in Tewkesbury, has to be worth a drop in and purchase.
